Argentina – Animals

In addition to the frequent dog citing in Buenos Aires, there were some interesting animals in Argentina.

In Iguazu butterflies were everywhere!

These Acouti look like a cross between a raccoon, oppossum, and ant eater

The accouti are like raccoons in that they are scavengers for food.  In the picnic areas they would walk right up to you looking for food.

These "river rats" as we called them were found at the zoo.  They look like a cross between a beaver and a rat.

The zoo encourages certain animals to be fed by the visitors using approved food.  This hippo had it figured out.  He would open his mouth wide and people would throw the food to him.
